My motto for the year is “Starting again in 2010″.  After the last two years of economic decline, I am starting from the beginning and rebuilding, reshaping, and reinvigorating my business and personal life.

Wow, sounds like a lot of work.  Maybe I’ll start tomorrow.  NO!! I start today.

Join me in this mission.  However, three basic tenets of life and business must be observed.

1. Fighting against anything just gives it more power. What you resist, persists. Period.   -

Well if you can’t beat ‘em,  Join ‘em.  I have been fighting against the tide for the last 2 years. I have been patient and worked tirelessly trying to fend off the recession.  I have failed.  Now, I am embracing the recession and changing my habits accordingly.  I now have to act as if I am starting from scratch.  New marketing, new enthusiasm, new, hardened resolve.

2. In order to build a successful business, it is necessary  to be able to measure and monitor daily activity and performance against set quotas and goals. Crap!!!  Oh well, Now I must write down my goals and stick to a plan of achieving them.  This year, I am going to put down REALISTIC goals.  Not pie in the sky goals.  And, I am going to meet them.  I will monitor them weekly and adjust my planning and scheduling accordingly.

3. I will not allow my business to consume me this time like I did the first time around.  I will have more BALANCE in my life.

Sometimes it’s easier for us to allow ourselves to feel overwhelmed rather than taking charge and developing a prioritized list of things that need to get done. I will buck the trend.  I will develop a list of activities needed to be done daily and weekly.  I will set priorities. And then enjoy the satisfaction of crossing things off my list.

It is human nature for just about everyone to take on too many tasks and responsibilities, to try to do too much, and to own too much. I will not do anything outside of my work and my family for the next year.

So, I will be Superman for the next year.   I hope I don’t kill myself in the process.

Happy New Year everyone!!
